She Go or No? Park Starz Pirates of the Caribbean Variant Set

For this installment of "She Go or No?", we bring you perhaps the longest Vinylmation name ever with the Park Starz Pirates of the Caribbean Variant Set.

Scheduled for release on 7/12/13 at both D-Street locations, this sepia-toned variant set is a limited edition of 2,000 and will retail at $49.95. It is unknown currently as to how these will be packaged but our assumption is that they will be in some sort of open edition display.

I have always been a fan of the Park Starz series and this is a very interesting color scheme with the sepia. But, for these two particular vinyls, I cannot seem to justify the price tag! Although by being connected to the Pirates franchise, there are a ton of different possible display options here within our "Vinylmation Museum" set-up should we ever obtain these.

Unless there will be a price drop on these and I don't believe there will be, this set gets a soft "No".

She Go or No? Park 12 Country Bear Jamboree

In this installment of "She Go or No?", we take a look at the upcoming July 12th release entitled Park 12 Country Bear Jamboree

This three figure set will be an open edition with a limited run of 1,500. It will retail for $39.95 and will be sold exclusively at both D-Street locations.

One thing that is wonderful about having your own blog is getting the opportunity to be brutally honest when called for and this is one of those times. You know how when you were in elementary school, the teachers always preached "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all"? I really just wanted to post a picture of these vinyls with the word "NO" in big bold letters. But, it would not have been right to not post the release information for all of those interested.

With all of that being said, this gets a definitive "No" from our staff and can see this set sitting on the shelves at D-Street for quite a while.

She Go or No? July 2013 Poster Art

Today marks the start of our new series of posts that we will be calling "She Go or No?". These posts will be reviews where we take a look at the newly released vinyls and share our thoughts about them.

Here in the islands, the term "she go" can mean a wide variety of things such as okay, great, yes and etc... And by popular request for us to add a little more local flair in all that we do, this seems like a good place to start.

The July 2013 Poster Art Vinylmation was just released on 7/5/13 at both D-Street locations and is an open edition limited run of 2,013 that retails for $14.95

As with the rest of the 2013 Poster Art series, this one has many collectors on the fence as to whether or not they should pick it up. On first glance, we see the number 13 which has been significant on all of the Poster Art series vinyls mainly because of both the year and limited edition amount of pieces made. Definitely do not mind this as it helps to easily identify the vinyls for all of the out-of-the-box collectors.  The rest of this vinyl seems to have an Independence Day/4th of July feel to it but just seems to fall flat for us.

Unless July is your birth month or you do like the design of this vinyl, this one gets a "No" rating from us.

If Only Money Grew On Trees...

When the first of each month arrives, it has become a traditional to check out our notes and see what Vinylmation releases will be coming and which ones we will want to purchase. Generally, certain months are expensive due to the sheer amount of releases but this month will be a bit different...

Looking at our notes and calendar, there are three releases that have really caught our eye; Mystery Bakery Series, Disney Afternoon Series 2: Ducktales and Muppets 3. With the plans we have for each one, we are definitely glad that we have been saving our money!

The Mystery Bakery Series is a very unique concept! Although they are being touted as Open Edition vinyls, they are actually more of a blind box series. There will be 6 different characters and 3 different designs of each one making this a set of 18. What is so unique about this particular set is that all of the characters look the same from the outside but taking off their cupcake hat is the only way to reveal which design you actually have purchased! Our plan is to get one of each character to display in its Open Edition glory within our "Vinylmation Museum" and then multiples of the Stitch and Little Green Men in an attempt to get each different design.

With the Disney Afternoon Series 2: Ducktales set, taking one look at it should say it all. Anyone who was an 80's child can tell you stories about rushing home from school to turn on the TV and catch as many of the Disney Afternoon cartoons possible before starting their homework. The feeling of nostalgia is so high with this release and of course, anyone who tells you that they do not know the words to the Ducktales theme song is covering up their secret love of Scrooge McDuck and the gang!

And last but not least, the Muppets 3 blind box series! The only thing that really needs to be said is...MAHNA MAHNA!

Spellbinding Sorcerers

Can you believe that it is July already? Time has been absolutely flying this year and we hope that it will continue because D23 is lurking around the corner and our anticipation and excitement is only growing!

With the full previews of the D23 specific vinyls being released, this series of three was the first to catch our eye! Designed by Caley Hicks, these D23 Sorcerer's Logo will be a limited edition run of 2,000 pieces and retail at $16.95 a piece.

Such a simple yet elegant design that just screams out for you to collect them all as if this were Pokemon! We are quite optimistic that we will be able to get one of each color and already have it planned out for where it will sit in our "Vinylmation Museum" :)

The Full Monty

If there is one regret that the Vinylmation Revealed staff has as a whole, it is not picking up every single Disney Afternoon Series 1 release. But, we will not make that same mistake twice!

Today, we get a look at the Disney Afternoon Series 2 release from Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers. This is actually a three vinyl set! It would appear that it includes a 3" Gadget, 3" Monty and a 1.5" Zipper! We are being told this will be released on 8/16/13 at both D-Street locations and online at the Disney Store. This will be a limited edition run of 1,500 and will retail at $29.95.

This is a must have for our staff, how about you?

The Lone(ly) Ranger

Disney has definitely given a new meaning to T.G.I.F. for all of their Vinylmation collectors. But, inevitably in all busy release months, there is bound to be a set or two that gets forgotten in the shuffle. For this month, the Lone Ranger is odd man out...

Released on 6/21/13, the same day as the Beauty and the Beast blind box series, it may have been doomed from the beginning. This two-pack is a limited edition run of 2,000 sets that retail at $26.95 and includes both the Lone Ranger and Tonto. In person, this set is absolutely beautiful and our staff is assuming that the popularity of this set may possible increase if the movie gets rave reviews. If not, a price drop may be imminent.

What do you guys think of this one? Did you pick up a set? Can you imagine the open display possibilities for these guys? Check out this example below from Disney World.

See Ya Later, Ben Ali Gator!

Just when you thought your wallet was safe, yet another Friday release is coming!

Fantasia 8 which is a two-pack of Ben Ali Gator and Hyacinth Hippo is scheduled to be released on 6/28/13. This will be a limited edition run of 2,000 sets that will be retailing at $24.95 and is a park exclusive.

Any thoughts on this set? Outside of the initial Fantasia two-pack, the staff has not picked up any of the following releases in this series. Though, if this ever does price drop to the sub $5 range like the Oz sets recently have, it will be a deal that is too good to pass up!

You Rang, Sir?

Since it's release on 5/3/13, the Tower of Terror Bellhop has been one of the most sought after figures from the Park Starz 2 series. And since Disney does its best to never disappoint their loyal fanbase, a variant will be released on 6/28/13 at both D-Street locations and online at the Disney Store.

Here is a sneak peek of what the tin that it will come in looks like:

We are being told that it is a limited edition run of 2,000 pieces and will retail at $24.95.

What do you guys think of this one? Is this a must have? Our staff will be camping out online to pick one up as he is just too awesome to not join his fellow bellhops in our collection :)

Disney Cruise Line Greece Release Day

Today brings a Disney Cruise Line Vinylmation release, this time for people taking their vacation to Greece!

This will be a limited edition run of 1,000 pieces and will retail at $14.95. Like all other Disney Cruise Line releases, we are positive this will be a 3 inch figure in an open window box packaging.

What are your thoughts on this one? We feel like this is a pass for us but could definitely change our minds once actual pics of the release do surface.

6/7/13 Vinylmation Releases

Today marks the start of what is looking to be an extremely vinyl filled June!

First up from the Animation 3 series is the release of the 9" Dumbo and Jr. Timothy Mouse. This one is a limited edition run of 250 pieces and retails at $99.95.

Also out today is perhaps one of the most anticipated releases thus far this year, the Carbonite Han Solo from the Star Wars 3 series. Designed by Maria Clapsis, it is a limited edition run of 2,000 and retails at $32.95.

Did you pick up any of these today? Were the lines as crazy as the pictures we saw? We personally love them both but the packaging on the Carbonite Han Solo is just beautiful!
